How to Care for Restaurant Chairs

Restaurant Upholstery
Restaurant chairs are a crucial part of keeping your customers comfortable, making properly cleaned, and maintained restaurant chairs a top priority. At J & R Upholstery, we’ve put together some tips on how to keep your chairs clean, so they remain in great condition while keeping your customers safe and comfortable during their dining experience.

Cleaning Treatment Dos & Don’ts for Each type of Restaurant Chair

Your restaurant chairs see a lot of traffic, and caring for them is no easy task. Your chairs will experience water spills as well as spills of tea, juice, soda, and more, that can stain the upholstery. When a spill occurs on your restaurant booths or chairs, it is important to clean up the spill immediately to prevent permanent damage.

When caring for and cleaning your restaurant seating, it is important to keep in mind that not all cleaners are created equal, and you can’t always use the same cleaning solution for different materials. To help you choose the best cleaner and cleaning method for your restaurant chairs, we’ve broken down the cleaning methods by type of chair material.

Fabric
To best care for fabric and upholsteries, you should use a dry towel and vacuum attachment to clean up any messes. A towel will help you blot up spills while the vacuum will help you remove dust and dirt from the surface of the chair.

Vinyl
Vinyl can safely and effectively be cleaned using a mixture of mild soap and water. Use a clean cloth to gently wipe off the surfaces regularly. Avoid using abrasive or strong cleaning products because they can damage the vinyl fabric.

Metal
Metal restaurant seating should only be cleaned with non-abrasive cleaning solutions or products. You can use a water and mild soap mixture, spray it on the surface and wipe them dry with a dry, clean cloth.

Plastic
Like metal chairs, you should avoid using any abrasive cleaning products for plastic chairs to avoid damage. Use a mixture of mild soap and water, spray it on the surface of the chairs and wipe it clean with a clean, dry cloth.

Wood
Wood seating can best be cleaned using a mild soap and warm water mixture. Using a soft cloth, you can wipe the mixture to clean the surface and then dry the chairs thoroughly when done. Do not use citrus-based cleanings because they can strip the wood’s finish. It is also important to not allow cleaner to dry on the wooden surface and to avoid using a bristled brush to clean off the dirt to avoid scratches.
